Angel Stadium Facts and Information
On October 1, 1996 reconstruction to Anaheim Stadium began. On September 15, 1997, Edison International Field of Anaheim was the fix up stadium's new name. On December 29, 2003, the Angels broadcasted the stadium would be renamed Angel Stadium of Anaheim. The total cost for the stadium renovation was approximately 100 million dollars and was finished in time for the Anaheim Angels Opening Day on April 1, 1998.
The original Anaheim Stadium seated 43,204. The stadium went through construction in 1979 to 1980 for added seating to have room for the Los Angeles Rams. Upon completion in 1981, the stadium seated 65,158 for baseball. The Rams left Anaheim for St. Louis, MO in 1995. The new Angel Stadium has a seating ability of roughly 45,050 for the Anaheim Angels.
Other new features of the new Angel Stadium consist of, terraced bullpens in the outfield, widened concourses, new restroom and concession areas, a roomy and updated press box and broadcast booths, family-oriented seating sections, high-tech club-level and dugout-level suites, the Pepsi Perfect Game Pavilion and landscaped courtyards. Additionally, the new Angel Stadium includes three full-service restaurants: The KnotHole Club, The Diamond Club, and the Home Plate Club.
The next group were caught up in applying the change of Anaheim Stadium into Angel Stadium of Anaheim: Walt Disney Imagineering, which provided as the manager of the design and construction of Angel Stadium of Anaheim; HOK Sports Facilities Group and Robert A.M. Stern Architects, which were in charge for the architectural planning, design and renovation; and Turner Construction, which aimed at and gave construction services.
