Dave Koz Facts and Information

Born & raised in San Fernando Valley, California - Dave Koz initially picked up the saxophone as a means of joining his older brother's band. But what began as a hobby soon became a lifelong obsession. Years later, after earning his major in mass communications from UCLA, Dave decided to become a professional musician. Within weeks of that decision, Koz was recruited by the Bobby Caldwell’s band. It was during this time that Koz befriended keyboardist Jeff Lorber, who invited him to come play on one of Lorbors tours. That stint was lead to a 14 month tour with pop singer Richard Marx. Dave signed a deal with Capitol Records on the strength of a Lorber produced demo, Koz released his self-titled solo debut album in 1990 - the 1rst in a continuing body of best selling albums, including Lucky Man (1993), Off The Beaten Path (1996), 2 holiday themed albums, December Makes Me Feel This Way (1997) & Dave Koz & Friends - A Smooth Jazz Christmas (2001) & a various artist compilation.

Koz played a few times on the Arsenio Hall's show, which increased his popularity among the light jazz /pop & urban contemporary, audience. His sessions have been regularly released since his 1rst appearance on the scene. Now, at the historic dawn of a new millennium, Koz has added yet another distinction to his well accomplished resume is that of an entrepreneur. Koz recently co-founded Rendezvous Entertainment, an independent record company based in Los Angeles, California. Koz also hosts a weekly syndicated radio show, "The Dave Koz Radio Show," that features music & artist interviews. He also anchors, "Dave Koz in the Morning", a daily morning radio show on KTWV, the 5th ranked station in the Los Angeles market.
