Charlie & Chocolate Factory Bio Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is based on the 1964 children's book of the same title by author Ronald Dahl. Mr. Willy Wonka, the eccentric owner of the greatest chocolate factory in the world, has decided to open the doors of his factory for the 1rst time in 15 years to 5 lucky children & their parents. In order to choose who will enter his factory, Mr. Wonka devises a great plan to hide 5 golden tickets beneath the wrappers of his famous chocolate bars. The search for the 5 golden tickets is fast & furious. The children Veruca Salt, an insufferable brat, Augustus Gloop, a corpulent child whose only hobby is eating, Mike Teavee, who, as his name implies, cares only about television, Violet Beauregarde who took break from setting a world record in gum chewing, & Charlie Bucket, the unsuspecting hero, defies all odds in claiming the 5 th & final ticket. Charlie, a poor but virtuous boy lives in a tiny house with his parents & all 4 of his grandparents (who share the only bed in the house) the Bucket family. When circumstances become all the more direr, a stroke of luck befalls. Charlie decides to buy himself some chocolate & within the wrapping he finds the 5th & final golden ticket. Charlie’s oldest & most beloved grandparent, Grandpa Joe, springs out of bed for the 1rst time in decades. Charlie’s lucky find has transformed him into an energetic & almost childlike being. Grandpa Joe & Charlie set out on their adventure. Charlie is well-behaved throughout the adventure as one by one, each of the other 4 children gives in to temptation & receives a fitting consequence. Dazzled by one amazing sight after another, children will love the vibrant colors & the fanciful candy coated surroundings as the Southern California Children’s Theatre presents the original musical adaptation of Charlie and The Chocolate Factory's fantastic world in this astonishing & enduring story.
