311 Wiltern Theater Address Information. 311 Wiltern Theater Seating Chart. 311 Bio 311 formed in late 1988 in Omaha, Nebraska as a punk rock/reggae/rap core group. The 311 members are Nick Hexum (lead vocals, guitar), Douglas Vincent Martinez (vocals, turntable, and programming), Tim Mahoney (lead guitar), Aaron Wills (bass), & Chad Sexton (drums). All 5 311 members grew up in Omaha, Nebraska in the 70s. In 90 & 91, 311 released 3 records on their own independent record label, What Have You Records. These records, alongside their energetic live shows, launched 311’s career in the mid west - after which they moved out to California in an attempt to be signed onto a major label. Their 1rst album, Music was released in 1993 & eventually went gold. The 1 year later, they released their 2 nd album, Grassroots, but their biggest selling album was their self-titled release in 1995 which went 3 xs’s platinum, & also found mainstream success with the hit singles "Down" & "All Mixed Up". From 1997 to 2003, 311 stayed under the mainstream radar, releasing the albums Transistor, a live album, Soundsystem, From Chaos, & Evolver. Their continued success during this era was fueled by their loyal fan base & from the radio success of the singles "Beautiful Disaster", "Creatures", "Amber", & "Come Original". In 2004, 311 covered a song originally recorded by The Cure "Love Song", which achieved massive radio success & became a #1 hit. The song was featured on the soundtrack for the motion picture 50 First Dates, & then a few months later on their own Greatest Hits compilation. Later that year, 311 played a 68-song set list during their concert on 311 Day, which the band has held in New Orleans since 2000. Aside from their currently released albums, the band has created 3 well documented videos of their touring, friendship, positive messages, & of course, music.
