Phish Concert News:
The Phish reunion is in full swing, with plans for a summer tour just announced. Phish — a quartet of Trey Anastasio, Page McConnell, Mike Gordon and Jon Fishman — got its start in 1983. Their improvisational style and mix of different genres made them an enormously successful touring group with a cultlike following. They called it quits in 2004 with a grand goodbye concert in their home state of Vermont after fatigue and personal problems took a toll.
All of the band members have pursued other musical projects, including a self-titled debut solo album in 2007 from keyboardist McConnell, who has family in Chattanooga .
According to the musicians, they'll perform 10 concerts in June, kicking off with a two-night stand at Jones Beach in Wantagh , N.Y. , June 4-5 and wrapping up in Alpine Valley in East Troy , Wis. , June 20-21. The two nearest stops are the Asheville Civic Center in Asheville , N.C. , on June 9 and the Fox Theatre in St. Louis , Mo. , on June 16. Almost five years after the group disbanded, the jam band Phish will reunite and perform two shows at Alpine Valley Music Theatre in East Troy, about 60 miles southeast of Madison, on Saturday, June 20 and Sunday, June 21.
Part of Phish's summer tour, the two Wisconsin shows are expected to draw more than 70,000 fans to the venerable outdoor venue.
